04 Oct Our latest underwater baby photography session goes swimmingly

Mermaid and superhero outfits were just some of the costumes worn by youngsters at the latest underwater baby photography session held at our Centre of Excellence in Stone, Staffordshire.

The GUST team has partnered with Starfish Underwater Photography to run the photoshoots – which are already proving popular with members of our swimming school and visitors alike.

Sessions are open to children of three months of age and upwards and are led by an award-winning photographer who likes to keep things fun with a variety of accessories, props and costumes.

Jennie Bradbury, who attended with her son Reece, said: “Both myself and my 17-month-old son really enjoyed the underwater photo session. The instructors were great and made us so comfortable.

“The photos have turned out amazingly and are definitely something to treasure forever. I would highly recommend this to anyone – it is something not to be missed.”

What happens at an underwater baby photography session?

Photoshoots last for around 30 minutes and take place in small groups of no more than five children, so our photographer has plenty of opportunity to capture all the action.

Siblings can also join in for a discounted price, and if your child wants to dress up as a mermaid or superhero, we can arrange that too. At least one parent needs to be in the pool with each baby or child taking part to ensure safety and a happy experience for all.

After a warm up, the photographer takes a few above-water shots before our little models take it in turns for an underwater submerged photo. For this reason, it is important that your child has experience of submersion and is confident in being underwater. Our swimming instructors are also on hand on the day to keep the sessions running smoothly, and to take care of the submersion so mums and dads don’t have to worry.

Once the photoshoot has ended, parents are given the opportunity to purchase images via a password-protected, secure website. Visitors to our swimming school are welcome to attend, even if they are not members of GUST – but places are limited so if you would like to secure a booking, simply get in touch with the team.

Our underwater photography sessions run throughout the year at our Centre of Excellence in Stone, Staffordshire. Photoshoots cost £40 per child (£20 for a sibling who is also taking part). This price does not include photos but there is an opportunity to purchase images separately.
