Welcome to GUST, a fun and friendly swim school with its own warm and welcoming Centre of Excellence which has taught thousands of youngsters of all ages how to take to the water with ability and confidence. We would love to make a splash with your child too. Jump on in and take a look at what’s on offer.
VIEW MOREAt GUST, we have a simple ethos – every child should be able to swim with confidence. And when it comes to learning in a safe, fun, and friendly environment, they’ll find nowhere better to achieve that goal.
Family-run, we have our very own purpose-built Centre of Excellence for the express purpose of delivering the highest quality swimming lessons for children of all ages and abilities, from tiny babies to teenagers.
Children enjoy a vibrant and sparkling pool which is a lovely 31 degrees, while for parents every cubicle has baby change facilities. Snacks and drinks are available, and we also have our very own swim shop – all in an irresistibly bright, colourful, and caring environment.
Why did we build our pool? Research has shown that one in three children are leaving primary school unable to swim. More than 70% of schools do not even implement swimming within their timetable. Also, parents often find existing leisure facilities to be outdated, both in methods and facilities.
At GUST, we see swimming not as a luxury, but a fun, vital, and potentially life-saving skill. One that will bring enjoyment, and safety, for years to come.
The ability to swim shouldn’t be lost to any child. Talk to GUST and BOOK YOUR FREE TRIAL WITH US TODAY!
When is a little one too young to start swimming? Never! Teeny Tiny Swimmers offers parents and babies (aged three months-plus) an exciting opportunity to take to the water together in a fun and dedicated learning programme.
Little Swimmers is an exciting opportunity for parents and toddlers aged two-plus to take part in a 10-week swimming course, building confidence and skills in a happy and vibrant atmosphere.
Children love having a fun target to aim at and, from the age of four-plus, our mainstream lessons see youngsters work towards achieving GUST’s own unique certificates and cloth badges – and a swimfin!
A young swimmer never stops refining and improving. Our Development Squads are designed to move our advanced swimmers forward in a club-style environment, focusing on key elements of all-round improvement in the water.
Before I took my daughter Lauren to GUST she wouldn’t swim independently. She would cling on to me all the time. At GUST, the instructors get in the pool with them. They make it fun while achieving real progression. Lauren was four when she started at GUST and has never looked back. Ten years on and she loves swimming as much as ever. That all came from GUST. I’d recommend it to anyone.

My daughter Phoebe has had two transplants and GUST have supported her all the way through with her rehabilitation. They care about what they do. Thought and care goes into everything. The professionalism of the company is incredible. GUST is a family business and Gareth and Vicki are passionate about what they do – always positive and encouraging to the children. Fantastic.

I have three children aged nine, eight and four, and they have all been through GUST. Their small class sizes are massively beneficial. The one-on-one attention children receive far outweighs anything they would get in a swimming lesson in a public baths. GUST is convenient, easy to use, clean, and great to get them started.

Where do I start.....My eldest started swimming with GUST when he was five and a half. He was extremely nervous in the water and constantly clung around my neck. Fast forward 4.5 years and he now swims like an Olympian and has completed the GUST award scheme. My youngest has been swimming with GUST for 2 years and is following in his older brothers footsteps. I cannot recommend them enough. If you are looking for the best swim swim school in the area, dedicated swim teachers who make lessons fun and actually teach your children to swim with fantastic technique rather than how to just get from a to b, small groups of no more than 4 children, fantastic facilities and staff who actually care and take an active interest in your children's progress then this is the swim school for you. Swimming lessons are so important and worth every penny. For me it is the best money I've spent with regards to the boys. it's a valuable lifeskill that they will always have and you can't put a price on your children's safety. Thank you GUST for setting the standard that other swim schools try to achieve. I'm so proud that both my boys were taught by the best and I won't hesitate to recommend you. Keep up the great work!

We have just attended a free trial lesson with my 3 year old son. Being our first visit I was very impressed with the facilities and the staff were so friendly and put my son at ease, having had an extended period of not going swimming. The pool room is warm and the swim instructors are friendly and patient with the children, They encourage the nervous children to get there heads wet and I saw his confidence grow by the end of one lesson. We will definitely be booking in for lessons!

A fantastic set up and a really lovely atmosphere. There isn't anything that hasn't been covered, from the kids facilities to the adults. The entire centre is child friendly and the staff are all incredibly welcoming. We've been coming to classes now for about 10 weeks and can honestly say we have as much enjoyment from the first session to this day. The consistency and familiarity has started to progress our sons awareness and interaction in the pool and there's nothing we look forward to more during the week. So thank you to you all!

We've been coming to gust for over a year now and I've got nothing but praise for them. My son Riley has physical disabilities/limitations therefore isn't as strong/confident as others his age so I was really weary as to weather he would be able to cope, so when I contacted gust and told them about his condition they were very supportive and told us to come for a trial and I'm so glad we did. He has always been treated equally and with respect by Gemma (his instructor) and when needed she has adjusted certain techniques to fit in with Rileys abilities so that he's able to do things his own way but still join in with the other children. This term he has been swimming on his own with me sitting at the side, honestly something I never expected him to be able to do and I am so proud of him and so thankful to Gemma for all her hard work and support. Also all of the staff are very friendly and all of the changing rooms are very clean, basically everything you need gust has it so thank you very much.

Eddy has been coming to Gust for a few months now and his confidence in the water has come on leaps and bounds. The facilities are amazing, the pool is a lovely warm temperature and the depth is perfect for you and your little one. The showers are very clean and a pleasure to use. The changing rooms are bright and inviting, the temperature is perfect to prevent the children becoming chilly. The cloakroom is also very bright and child friendly and a nice area to put your shoes and coats on/off. All of the instructors that Eddy has had have been very friendly and professional and clearly care about the children they teach, Gemma is currently Eddy’s instructor and she is brilliant, he loves her and always has a smile for her. All the staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help. At Gust they teach the children in a fun, safe way which is enjoyable to participate in and also to watch from the viewing area. I will continue to bring my son as he absolutely loves his lessons and I am much confident about his abilities in the water.
